This day starts with your driver guide picking you up from your hotel or airport in Kigali and embarking on an exciting road drive to the extreme South Western Uganda, aiming the Gorilla land of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park. This is a drive of approximately 3 hours with lunch stopover en route. Though long, the drive takes you through different features to include tropical rain forests, savannah fields and the terraced hills of Kigezi famously known as the Switzerland of East Africa. Upon arrival in Bwindi, you will go for the Batwa community encounter which takes you to meet the original indigenous people who lived in this conservation area. They will entertain you through their cultural dance and music as well as giving you their historic stories. Drive to the lodge for relaxation as you wait for the next day’s adventure with dinner and overnight at

    Accommodations : Gorilla Mist Camp.

  • Day 2: Gorilla tracking and transfer back to Kigali

After an early morning breakfast, and with your picnic lunch we then take a short drive to the park offices for briefing where we meet the excellent local guides and trackers who give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. We then hike into the forest to a spot where gorillas were seen the previous night and track from there. Trekking may take anything between 1 to 6 hours depending on the location of the family and altitudes which is in excess of 7500 feet. The terrain is rough and muddy calling for physical fitness. Although the hike is physically demanding, the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. It is recommended that you take plenty of water with you on the trek. Cameras and plenty of fast speed films are recommended. Being a tropical rain forest, it may rain at no notice, hence need to bring with you waterproof clothing, including zip lock bags for cameras and film. Others to come with include; sturdy hiking boots, long pants, gloves and raincoat. Maximum time spent with the Gorillas is 1 hour. You will later transfer to Kigali to be dropped at your point of drop off late evening.
