Here are the three best bicycle stores in Bangalore.

BUMS ON THE SADDLE(BOTS)

Started by bike enthusiasts, Bums on the Saddle (BOTS) is a Bangalore-based company retailing bicycles and cycling-related equipments and accessories. They have established themselves as a mega biking store, and are actively involved in the cycling scene across the country over the past three years. They provide the best service for bikes in town. This speciality cycle store has some of the coolest bikes in the world, where you’ll find everything from top mountain bikes to portable folding bikes. If you want to look snazzy when riding you can pick up some very stylish biking shorts and jerseys from this store, as well as maintenance tools and safety gear. They have two branches in Bangalore, one at Jayanagar and the other at Infantry Road.

PROCYCLE

‘Just WALK IN and RIDE OUT and feel the difference…’

This is the motto of this bike store. At ProCycle, you can find every kind of bike, for every kind of biker. Like the store discussed above, ProCycle is more than just a place where you can buy bicycles and biking equipment. You can tell right from the start, that everyone who owns and runs the place is wholeheartedly invested in the sport of bicycling. The ProCycle team consists of passionate riders, some of whom are champions.

They also have a monthly magazine called “Crank”, which you can read online. They have two outlets in Bangalore; in Indiranagar and Koramangala. Besides bikes, they sell a very wide range of accessories.

WHEEL SPORTS

Located in Chamrajpet, this is another popular biking store loved by many Bangloreans. Owned by a former manager and coach of the Indian cycling team (Mr.Venkatesh Shivarama), this bike store deals with brands like Merida, Scott, KHS etc. They support budding national level cyclists, provide adequate training to them and enroll them in their racing team ‘Team Wheelsports’.

Many agree that cycling is the most refreshing mode of transport. The rider is the engine of the bike, and cycling lets you know yourself better. So what are you waiting for? Get onto the saddle and start pedaling; rolling down the roads, with the wind gushing into your hair.

This is part-4 of a 4 part series on Cycling in Bangalore published originally in SUMMIT Magazine-2014 issue under the title - High on Wheels.
