Dodital Trek in Garhwal by High Adventure
Dodital is a high altitude lake at a height of 3307 mts/10847 ft. Situated amidst pine forests with the backdrop of Darwa Bugyal, a high altitude meadow; Dodital has a serene effect on the mind and body. Dodital gets its name from Dodi, the local name for trout, which are found inlarge numbers in the lake. The another name for this lake is Dhundital. Dhundital means Ganesh - ka - tal. In Sanskrit Dhundi is synonymous with Lord Ganesha. There is a temple which is devoted to lord Ganesha.
Take the overnight Mussoorie Express (10:15pm) from Delhi to reach Haridwar early in the morning.
Arrival in the Arlee morning at Haridwar then driveto Uttarkashi. The drive takes you through the picturesque Garhwal Mountains along with the holy Ganges. Check in hotel. Evening visit the famish Vishwanath Temple then back to hotel.
After breakfast drive to Sangam Chatti (1350m) the starting point of the trek. The trail ascends through the deciduous to semi-tropical forest. Along the way we cross the village of Agoda (2250m), a line of rose bushes and hedgerows greets you. Bevra (2500m) is a beautiful campsite with a stream nearby – a perfect place for a night halt.
After breakfast, follow the trail as it ascends through the forest toarrive at Majhi (3150m), from here, it is a pleasant walk through rhododendron, Oak, Pine and Bamboo forest around hillside to arrive atthe beautiful lake of Dodital (3310m). Check in the Camp Dodital.
After breakfast enjoy the beauty and serenity of the lake. For the one seekinga physical challenge, a climb atop the Darwa pass (4150m.) is very rewarding. You can see the magnificent Peaks of Bandar Poonch and Swargarohini, evening back to camp.
After breakfast return trek to the village of Agoda. Check in the local village house. Evening understand the life of local peoples and enjoy local food.
After breakfast an easy walk to Sangam chatti, and then drive to Uttarkashi. Check in the hotel. Evening visit to the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM), then back to the hotel.
After breakfast drive to Haridwar. Evening, train to Delhi.
