We start our trek with a charming flight to Lukla from Kathmandu after having a breakfast early morning. Once we arrive at Lukla, we head towards Phakding that takes around 4 hours of walk. On our way to Phakding, we will observe beautiful stone walls, painted and non-painted mani stones, view of kusum Khangkaru mountain, and finally reach Phakding.
From Phakding, we walk towards Namche Bazaar, our second destination of the Everest Base Camp Trek. Passing by Rimshung Monastery and Uchhecholing Monastery, we climb up along the trail and visit Sagarmatha National Park. Moving forward, we cross Larbha Dobhan and taking further step ahead, we will witness the first view of Mount Everest. Climbing up the path, we are finally at Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar is the main gateway to Everest, you will find colorful Khumbu villages, Banks, Money Exchanger, Internet café and overall all the facilities you can find in the city. Our accommodation would be on a tea house or lodge in full board basis.
This day is the rest day as we need enough time for acclimatization; however, if you are willing to hike for sometime then we take you to famous Everest View Hotel that takes around 3 hours to catch glimpses of Mt. Everest. On our way back, we'll visit Hilary and Sherpa museum. You will get teahouse or lodge accommodation in full board basis.
Heading towards Tengboche from Namche, the first view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse Shar, Taboche, Kangtega and Thamserku is witnessed. Moving forward, we pass by an Army Barrack at Phunke Tenga and arrive at Tengboche. Tengboche is famous for the Buddhist Monastery, we visit and explore the monastery. Our accommodation would be on a tea house or lodge in full board basis.
Ascending along the stone steps, we see the National Park Head Office as we pass by Deboche. Following up the path, we reach Pangboche where a religious place called Pangboche Gompa exists. Walking over some flat trails, surpassing tea shops, we arrive at Dingboche. Here, you get teahouse or lodge accommodation in full board basis.
Today, we will have another day of acclimatization. You will head to another beautiful part of the Khumbu region, Chhukung offer you a magnificent views of the Mt. Makalu, Island Peak, Peak 38 etc.
The valley now becomes barren of vegetation as you walk up towards Lobuche, but your attention will be firmly on the snow-capped peaks, which soar above you. The path joins the trail below Thugla and gives beautiful views of Cholatse (6442.) across the valley. The path can become quite rocky in places and it is important to watch your step. After another steep ascent, Tawache and Nuptse are particularly spectacular form Lobuche, towering almost 2 kilometers directly overhead.
Today, the walk towards Everest is along the Khumbu Glacier. You will reach the small village of Gorakhshep, where you will be able to have lunch. After having your lunch the trail will lead you to the Mt. Everest base camp at an altitude of 5400meters. Everest base camp gives you an unforgettable view of Khubutse, Mt. Pumori, Changtse and Khumbu ice fall instead of Mt. Everest.
The ascent of Kalapatthar or 'Black Rock' will offer the best views of Everest. At the top you will see a 360-degree view of some of the highest peaks in the world including Mt. Pumori (7169m), Mt. Everest (8848m) and Lhotse (8516m), the Tibetan peak Changtse, Nuptse (7861m) and countless other smaller peaks. You will then descend and return to Lobuche and retrace your steps to Lukla.
