Nanda Devi Sanctuary Trek by Himalayan Snow Runner.


Nanda Devi Sanctuary situated in the Garhwal Himalayas of eastern region in Chamoli District at the height of 4,500 metres is surrounded by seventy white colossal peaks, many named and unnamed, the most famous being Nanda Devi. The Sanctuary is in the of the blue mountain goat (Bharal).

Thus this area has attracted many prominent international moun- taineers. Sir Edmund Hillary in his autobiography has mentioned the ruggedness of this sanctuary.

The starting point for this trek is Joshimath. At Joshimath array- garments for guide, porters and last minute purchases can be made. Joshimath to Lata is 25 km journey by road and then the trek starts from Lata village. From Lata, it is an arduous trek to Lata Kharak but one forgets the exhausion on seeing the fabulous and fantastic view of the snow glistened peaks of Runti, Nanda Devi, Nanda Ghunti and Bethartoli across the river Rishi Ganga.


  • Day 1

    Upon arrival at Delhi international airport met our taxi Diver and transfer to hotel

  • Day 3

    Upon arrival at the pre booked home stay in Joshimath meet our Trekking crew . Remaining day to Relax and acclimatize Overnight stay in Joshimath (Himalayan Abode home stay ) joshimath is a small town in the Uttarakhand Garhwal hills on the bank of the Alaknanda River. This place is very famous for Sankracharya temple and . It is also the hub of many mountaineering and trekking expedition in Garhwal Himalayas.

  • Day 4

    An hour's drive takes you to the Lata Village road head. Then trek to the village. Visit The Nanda Devi Temple and get a first hand experience of the distinctive culture of the region. Overnight in the village.

  • Day 5

    Today's trek is a steep incline. The going is arduous but very satisfying as the trail unfolds before ones eyes. Lata Kharak is a high plateau with high peaks surrounding it. Trekking time could vary from 5 - 7 hrs! Overnight in Camp.

  • Day 6

    A good nights sleep and what a morning! Towering snow clad peaks all around. Dronagiri, Nanda Gunthi and many more. The trail today takes a steep climb to Jhandi Dhar and Bagfyana Pass. From here on it ascends and descends through the narrow gorge of Satkul to Dharansi Pass. Over night in Camp.

  • Day 7

    Today we go through Jhandi Dhar a steep descent of 4.5 km to the Hitoli camp site through thick forests of Rhododendron, Birch and Fir. Dinner and Overnight at Camp.

  • Day 8

    The trek goes through the village of Tolma to the road head from where it is a 35 km drive to Joshimath. We will trek through thick forests of Rhododendron, birch and many others. Upon arrival at Joshimath check into Home stay for dinner and overnight stay at Himalayan Abode.

  • Day 9

    Morning after breakfast drive (257 km) down to reach Rishikesh .Evening free for sightseeing and shopping

  • Day 10

    In the morning journey by train for Delhi. On arrival at Delhi , By evening transfer to airport.
