Spituk to Stok Trek in Ladakh by Mountain View Trek and Tour


Spituk Stok trek, a relatively short, accessible trek with beautiful view and moderate difficulty, this trek is definitely the one for you to explore.


  • Day 1:

    Arrive Delhi On arrival meeting and assistance at the Airport followed by the traditional welcome by garlanding and then escorted transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is leisure. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 2:

    Delhi - Leh (Complete Rest in Leh for acclimatisation) Take the morning flight for Leh. Check into the guest house and relax the whole day. This is necessary for getting acclimatised. Overnight at the guest house.

  • Day 3:

    Leh - Shey - Thiksey – Hemis - Leh On this day you will go a sightseeing trip to some ancient monasteries in this area. Shey Gompa is about 15 kms from Leh. It used to be the summer palace of the kings of Ladakh. There are lots of Stupas and Gompas built around the palace. Shey palace was built by Deldan Namgyal in the beginning of 17'Th century AD. Main attraction in Shey is the 12m Shakyamuni Buddha statue inside the Dresthang Gompa. Thiksey Gompa, close to Shey is about 17 kms from Leh. The monastery is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Ladakh and belongs to the Gelukspa order. Hemis, about 45 kms south of Leh it is one of the most famous and largest monastery in Ladakh. It belongs to the Drukpa order and was founded in the early 17'Th century. The setting is perfect with the monastery cradled in a lovely valley, surrounded by streams and fronted by long Mani walls. Overnight stay at the guest house.

  • Day 4:

    Leh- Spituk to Zingchen 3700 m (4-5 hours) Our walk begins along an old jeep road on very dry and exposed land, so water and protection against the sun are important! After 3 hours the landscape becomes greener as we go into the Zingchen Valley, where the Rumbak River flows into the Indus. Our camp is in the small village of Zingchen, which means 'big field', where there are just two houses. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying the view and maybe even a dip in the river.

  • Day 5:

    Zingchen to Rumbak 3900 m (3-4 hours) Today we enter Hemis National Park, home to the famous Snow Leopard, Blue Sheep, Ladakhi Urial (a type of goat), great Tibetan sheep (Arghali), red fox, Tibetan wolf, wild dog (dhole), Lynx, marmot and mountain hare. We start to climb gradually up to village of Rumbak.

  • Day 6:

    Rumbak – Stokla – Camp Site In the morning after breakfast you will ascend the 4,900-m. Stok Pass also known as the Namlung La. If you are fit and have camped at the plateau just under the pass as all do, you should have no problem climbing up to the pass. One can climb steadily and made it in less than 1.5 hrs.

  • Day 7:

    Camp Site – Stok – Leh Today is an easy day going downhill all the way. Follow the stream on its left bank as it heads north. The path is broad and easy. You will find willows and wild roses growing on islands in the middle of the stream which grows quite wide as you approach Stok. Visit the Stok Palace, residence of the king of Ladakh. We steadily descend through meadows to Thachutse and cross the Nimaling river. The trail follows the Markha river now, and will do so for the next few days.

  • Day 8:

    Leh - Delhi Transfer to the airport for the spectacular flight across the main chain of the Himalaya to Delhi. Upon arrival at Delhi, transfer to domestic airport to catch the flight for onward destination.

Health and Fitness

One has to be Relatively Fit and Healthy to complete this trip. Normal hiking for 3 to 5 hours a Day is one of the most required qualification for this trip. One has to be mentally prepared and full of enthusiasm along with good health to undertake this kind of trip People suffering from Acute Hearts and Lungs Diseases, Asthama and High blood preassure are not reccommended to take up this trip.

In order to complete this trek without much difficulties one has to make sure to do some excercises like Running and Long distance trekking atleast 2 weeks before a trip. This excecises really helps you keep Fit and Healthy during the trip. The right and comfortable choices of clothing also makes differences in your fitness. So it is necessary to be diciplined while packing your clothings for the trip. You can rely on us to help you with clothings if necessary!

We provides basic medicine Kit during the trek which includes Medicine for High Altitude sickness, Headache, Diarraheoa, Vomiting, Common Cold etc. All of our medicine are scientific medicine purchased in India, however we advised you to bring your own small medicinal kit for the trip if possible as we are concerned about allergies and compatibility of the medicine with your health.

The more the number of person the better the Price.
