Description

Our "Other" Valley of Flowers trek - and the one we'd highly recommend, starts in Dehradun and takes you through forests and meadows in Uttarakhand, ending with rafting at Shivpuri. The flowers are at their best just before monsoon, and the cascading mountain views seem to go on forever.

COSTS INCLUDE: Seven nights accommodation in expedition camping tents/lodges/hotels on twin sharing basis. Pick-up and drop to the Dehradun airport/Haridwar station as per the itinerary. Camping and trekking costs including sleeping bags One rafting session on the Ganga or one zipline All meals starting from Lunch on Day 1 to Breakfast on Day 8 ( 07 Breakfasts, 06 Lunches, and 7 Dinners) All government taxes included.

COSTS DO NOT INCLUDE: International/Domestic air fare or train fare. Pick up and drop off from airport/railway stations not included. We can arrange for it however, so let us know if you need to get picked up or dropped off. Nominal charges apply. Unforeseen expenses that demand a change in itinerary like natural forces, changes in weather, road blockages, flight/train cancellations and illness. Medical, Travel, or Evacuation insurance. Expenses of a personal nature - tips, laundry, phone calls, beverages. Charges for Bungy jumps.


Itinerary

  • Day 1:

    FLY TO DEHRADUN, DRIVE TO SRINAGAR - 125 KMS/ 4 HRS Arrive at Dehradun airport. You will be met at the airport/station on arrival and drive to Srinagar - yes, Uttarakhand has a "Srinagar" too! You could also ride the overnight train to Dehradun - the distance from the station is another 20 KM further. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 2:

    DRIVE TO AULI - 125 KMS/ 4-5 HRS Today you drive to Auli, one of India's premier ski fields in winter. In the summer it's a beautiful place to stroll around and get your trekking legs working after two days of travelling. Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 3:

    TREK TO TALI - 4-5 HRS After breakfast trek to Tali, a gradual uphill through forests of oak and rhododendrons before reaching high altitude grassland at Gorson. The rolling meadows and alpine flowers just add to the magnificent views of the Himalaya. Camp overnight near the small water body at Tali.

  • Day 4:

    TREK TO KUARI PASS/KHULARA Today’s trek begins with the ascent to the Kuari Pass, walking besides stone cairns which mark the way to the meadow just below the pass. The views from the pass are often claimed as the best in the Indian Himalayas. To the north of the Kuari Pass is the Chaukhamba Range, and the peaks of Mana (7272m), Kamet (7756m) and Abl Gamin (7355m) extend to the Tibet border. Spectacular peaks including Dunagiri (7066m) and Changabang (6864m) ring the Nanda Devi Sanctuary and to the west the snowcapped ranges extend all the way to Gangotri. After a rest and a lot of photo clicking, it’s just an hour down to Khulara, where camp is set up for the night. Camp overnight.

  • Day 5:

    TREK KHULARA TO TAPOVAN, DRIVE TO JOSHIMATH After breakfast,trek the 14 KM downhill to Tapovan. Relax awhile and then the cars will take you on the 40 KM drive to Joshimath Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 6:

    DRIVE TO SHIVPURI, 8 HRS After breakfast, start the 8 hour drive to Bull's Retreat at Shivpuri. Enjoy a refreshing drink in the landscaped gardens, take a short walk uphill through the forest and get a top angle shot of the Ganga as she flows past. Overnight at Bull's Retreat.

  • Day 7:

    RAFT AND RELAX AT SHIVPURI (RAFTING ONLY UP TILL JUNE-15TH) After a hearty breakfast at Bull's Retreat, raft the Ganga or take an optional zipline tour or bungy jump. Or just take walks to the river and enjoy your peaceful surroundings. Overnight at Bull's Retreat.

  • Day 8:

    DEPART FOR HOME After breakfast, transfer to Dehra Dun airport or Haridwar station to return home.
